How it’s done
Start facing the same direction, with the base in a wide squat and the flyer standing behind them, holding both hands. The flyer steps onto the base's thighs and stands upright while the base stays low. The base releases the hand grip and supports the flyer beneath the upper arms, then straightens their legs as the flyer lifts both feet and opens into a wide straddle. The flyer holds their ankles with straight legs while the base maintains the high balance with raised arms. To finish, the flyer releases their ankles and lowers their legs as the base squats and lowers them to the floor behind.
Before you begin
A controlled step-up onto the base's thighs and a stable supported standing balance. The flyer needs active straddle flexibility, and the base needs a controlled squat-to-stand while supporting the flyer.
Safety notes
Use a spotter and mats for the lift and lowering, as a loss of upper-arm support can tip the flyer backwards from height. Coordinate the leg lift and descent so the flyer's feet clear the base's thighs without catching.
