Shoulder Straddle Stand
How it’s done
Start with the base lying on their back with knees bent and feet planted, supporting the flyer's shoulders in their hands. The flyer braces their hands on the base's knees and lifts their hips above their shoulders. They straighten and open their legs into a wide straddle, keeping their head clear of the base's body. Both partners maintain this supported inverted balance.
Before you begin
The flyer needs a controlled supported inversion, and the base needs a steady shoulder support with raised arms.
Safety notes
Use a spotter beside the flyer to help control tipping during the entry and hold. Keep the support on the shoulders rather than the neck, as a slipping hand or collapsing arm can bring the flyer's head down towards the base.
