Copyright and Licensing

1. Text on CircusConnect Is Open

CircusConnect is written by its community. All text on the Site — descriptions of disciplines, tricks and drills, their names, instructions, listing details and reviews — is published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International licence (CC BY-SA 4.0), unless a page says otherwise.

You are free to copy, share and adapt that text, for any purpose including commercial use, as long as you:

  • Give credit: write "CircusConnect contributors" and link to the page you used, and to the licence
  • Say what you changed, if you changed anything
  • Share alike: publish your adapted version under CC BY-SA 4.0 or a compatible licence

For example: "[Page title]" by CircusConnect contributors, [page URL], CC BY-SA 4.0.

2. What the Licence Does Not Cover

  • Photos, videos, audio and logos belong to the people or organizations who uploaded them. Ask them for permission before reusing them.
  • The CircusConnect name and logo are our trademarks. You may use the name to credit us, but not in a way that suggests we endorse you.
  • The Site's design and software are not licensed for reuse.
  • Private content such as messages and job applications is never published.

3. Reporting Copyright Infringement

We respect the rights of creators. If you believe something on the Site infringes your copyright — for example a video of your act uploaded without permission, or text copied from your book or website — send a notice to contact@circusconnect.com with:

  1. Your name, postal address, email address and phone number
  2. A description of the work you own (or are authorized to act for), with a link or copy if possible
  3. The address (URL) of each page on CircusConnect where the material appears, and which part is infringing
  4. A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by you, your agent or the law
  5. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner of the right, or authorized to act on the owner's behalf
  6. Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is fine)

These elements also meet the requirements of the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act and the notice regime of Canada's Copyright Act.

4. What Happens Next

4.1 Review and Removal

We review every complete notice. When the material appears to infringe, we remove it or disable access to it promptly and tell the person who posted it, including a copy of your notice with your contact details. Where Canadian law requires it, we forward your notice to the person who posted the material.

4.2 Counter-Notice

If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake or that you have the right to post it, you may send a counter-notice to contact@circusconnect.com with: your name and contact details, the material that was removed and where it appeared, a statement in good faith that it was removed by mistake or misidentification, and your signature. We will forward it to the person who sent the original notice. If they do not tell us within 10 business days that they have started legal proceedings, we may restore the material.

4.3 Repeat Infringers

We close the accounts of members who repeatedly post infringing material.

4.4 False Notices

Please make sure the material really infringes your rights before sending a notice, and consider whether the use might be allowed by law, such as fair dealing. Knowingly sending a false notice or counter-notice may make you liable for damages.

5. Corrections Are Not Copyright Claims

If a page has a mistake, an outdated listing or a trick name you disagree with, you do not need a legal notice: suggest a change on the page itself, or write to us at contact@circusconnect.com. If you contributed text before October 17, 2026 and do not want it published under CC BY-SA 4.0, tell us which contributions and we will remove or rewrite them.
