Tightwire
Also called Fil de fer
Tightwire is a balance discipline performed on a taut steel cable stretched between two supports, anywhere from just above the ground to several metres high. The artist walks, runs, turns, jumps, and dances along the wire, sometimes with props such as fans, umbrellas, or a balancing pole, or while juggling or riding a unicycle.
It requires exceptional balance, concentration, and control of the feet and ankles, with the arms and upper body constantly adjusting to stay on the line. Tightwire can be delicate and poetic or daring and acrobatic, and has been part of the circus since its beginnings.
