Spanish Web
Also called Corde espagnole
Spanish web is an aerial discipline performed on a corde lisse with a hand or foot loop near the top. The artist climbs the rope, places a wrist or ankle in the loop, and holds poses while a partner on the ground spins the rope from below, sometimes at high speed.
It combines grip strength, body tension, and control with close teamwork between the aerialist and the spinner, who sets the speed and rhythm of the act. Spanish web is often performed by several artists at once, creating a large-scale image that is a classic of the traditional circus.
