Aerial

Loops

Also called Boucles aériennes

Aerial loops is an aerial discipline performed on one or two padded loops of fabric or rope hung from a rigging point. The artist slips wrists, elbows, knees or ankles into the loops to hang, spin, invert and hold shapes, moving between loops and grips to create transitions and drops.

It is close to aerial straps, but the closed loops can be held with more of the body, opening up hangs and positions straps don't allow. Aerial loops demands upper body strength, body tension and flexibility, and suits both powerful, spinning sequences and slow, sculptural poses.
