Hair Hanging
Also called Suspension capillaire
Hair hanging is an aerial discipline in which the artist is suspended by their own hair, braided and bound into a knot attached to a rope or swivel. Hanging from a single point above the head, the artist spins, poses, juggles, or works with other props while being raised high above the stage.
It requires years of careful preparation of the hair and scalp, along with strength, body control, and a high tolerance for strain. Hair hanging has a long history in the circus and is known for its spinning, otherworldly images and the suspense it creates.
