German Wheel
Also called Roue allemande
German wheel is an acrobatic discipline performed inside a large apparatus made of two parallel rings joined by bars, with handles and footboards that the artist holds onto. The artist rolls the wheel across the floor, rocking, spinning, and turning it while moving through positions inside and on top of it.
It was developed in Germany in the 1920s as a gymnastics apparatus, and combines strength, coordination, and spatial awareness. German wheel can be performed in straight-line rolls, in spirals that tilt the wheel onto one ring, or in large, dynamic movements that showcase its scale.
