Sitting on the Bar to Standing on the Bar

Beginner1 view · 14 daysAlso called D'assis à debout sur la barre

How it’s done

From sitting, hold the ropes and lean back slightly as you lift your legs in front of you. Bend one knee and place that foot on the bar beside your hips while the other leg stays extended. Walk your hands higher up the ropes and pull up, shifting your weight onto the foot on the bar until you are crouched over it with the other leg hanging below. Then bring the second foot up onto the bar and straighten your legs to stand.

Before you begin

Comfort sitting on the bar and holding your weight on the ropes with your arms.

Safety notes

You won't slip off the bar backwards, but keep a firm grip on the ropes while only one foot is on the bar, since that is the least stable moment. Work low over a mat until the move feels controlled.
